My clever plan is foiled

So my plan to call up the cable company and drop our digital cable to basic cable and thusly save a few bucks has been foiled. Because apparently the super-special plan we're on means that our bill would go up if I dropped back down to basic. By about thirty bucks.

Boggle. Oh, well. I guess that means we keep the DVR. The silly lady at the cable company was going to suggest that we drop or reduce somehow our internet connection if we were really desperate about a lower bill. HA HA HA LIKE I WOULD EVER DO THAT CRAZY LADY. If it comes down to it, we'd probably kill off the tv entirely and try and watch everything on Hulu or something.

DUDE, our cable company ALSO told us that -- I wanted to cut out the tv portion altogether, and they were like "That'll make your high-speed internet cost twenty dollars more a month! Unless you want to cut it...."

And I was all 'LOST MY HIGH-SPEED INTERNET WTF YOU IDIOTS.' Well. Slightly more politely than that.

It's all based on the bundling! Special deal, bundling makes the magic! Bundling! I'm not quite sure what that means, but it must be very important because the lady on the phone repeated it to me TWELVETY BILLION TIMES.

DUDE I KNOW. BUNDLE BUNDLE BUNDLE. I was like, "What the fuck, the cable is COLD or something? that it has to be bundled in LAYERS of service?"

See they *know* we can't live without the internet. We can do without TV and lots of people are cell phone-only...but the internet? Never!

Honestly, I lived quite happily without cable for 2 years (well, except no Bravo or Food NEtwork). So much is online now, and Hulu is amazing.
