I'm very pleased with myself that I got back to the pool for some laps today, after planning to do it for the past two weeks and continually getting thwarted.

However. Why the hell do I get so nauseated every time I swim after a long break away from the pool? If things proceed as they usually do, if I make it back reasonably quickly, I'll be less-nauseated and by the third time there, not nauseated at all. This first time back, however, I got six laps done and left because I wanted to toss my cookies and felt it was better for all concerned that I not push it. Is my body freaking out from the different exercise? My constant sinus issues making my inner ear go nuts?

At any rate, I finally got back, and will hopefully be able to go early next week and readjust so I'm no longer turning green and staggering back to the locker room.

In other news, Annie from Community leaping out of a trash can with two paintball pistols icon! Woo!

Hell yeah, I'd be up for that.
Also two Leverage icons that I've been toying with. I was playing with the screencap of Sophie and Eliot dancing from the most recent ep, but couldn't come up with anything workable. And I need something for the team, too.

Arrgh. I was poking around with the icons I just posted and have discovered, yet again, that they're a little too large, file-size-wise. I do that all the time when I'm in a rush, or playing with them at lunch, or whatever...I get careless and don't check. So I apologize, and if you can't resixe them yourself I'll try to get them resized as soon as I am able to be upright before the computer again.

So, tomorrow morning I get wheeled in for the surgery. I'm a little edgy, a little keyed-up, but I think I'll be fine. It's just so much bother. And nobody wants to think about the fact that they'll be in pain for the next few days. Plus, as I've complained about ad nauseum, I hate the fact that all of my carefully nurtured little savings account will be emptied out for this, and it won't be enough. I'll still have to make payments. Makes me want to bite.

But I have Dorothy L. Sayers' letters (volume 4) and Elizabeth Gaskell's Cranford and plenty of stuff on Nurple, my iPod shuffle, to keep me occupied.

See y'all later.

A few more 1930s icons, plus the Lane Bryant ad that so amused me.

This is my first go-round with them, so they're mostly just crops with not much tweaking at all. If you want me to tweak, add text, or to take one and tweak and add text yerself, feel free. I'll probably go back and write Harriet Vane on a few, because there's one that really looks like her to me. Pls for to be commenting on the ones you like/take.

And later I will post the Lane Bryant ad, for stout women who need dresses! For lo, I am stout, and need dressing!

Chessica asked me to make a few Ned wallpapers for her, and I've put a few together. Thumbnails and links behind the cut. Chess, if you want me to make any tweaks, just ask! And if anybody else would like one, please feel free.

No hotlinking, comments are appreciated.

It's my birthday today. I'm contemplating buying myself a bike. I could easily commute to work on it. But I don't know if I want to spend the money.

So in lieu of fic, you get wallpapers! Well, one wallpaper, three variants. Behold:

I was really taken with the images from the Buffy Tarot deck that have been teased. (The deck goes on sale in August, I think.) I haven't read Tarot in ages, but I may pick up this deck because I really, really like the artwork.

Anyway, I cobbled together this wallpaper, and if you're interested in stealing it, swipe away. I may be continuing to experiment with them.

Three versions to select from.

And KateH, I hope you like the books. I loved The Lord of the Rings and the Narnia books when I was a kid, but the Dark is Rising books were particularly dear to my heart, and I'm so sad that they've decided to make such an asstastic movie out of it. They're not nearly as flashy as the Harry Potter books, but I really love them and still reread them, especially around Christmas.

Some icons I've whipped up. A few from The Dark is Rising, to counteract the bad movie mojo, and a few Italy pics, mostly taken from Chessica's photos. Want, take, just pls. comment, and if there are any quotes from The Dark is Rising that you'd like to see given the same treatment, just let me know.
