I just realized that my previous entry makes it seem like I'm on my week-long hiatus right this minute, when in fact all I did was officially notify my boss that I had my vacation time picked out. It's only a week, although I have almost three weeks racked up in the kitty - working for a non-profit doesn't get you the big bucks, but mine tends to be generous with the leave time accrual. The plan is to spend a couple of days at a friend's West Virginia cabin, then take the following week to try and buckle down to some serious thesis writing. We shall see how it goes. Maybe if I plant myself in the National Gallery's library long enough, smart particles will adhere themselves to my skull and I'll grow more intelligent. Then again, maybe I'm allergic to them.
Just devoured Kim Harrison's Dead Witch Walking which was a fun read but was oddly inconsistent. There were moments when I was flipping back a few pages, wondering if I'd skipped over something that explained what I was currently reading, but it wasn't ever the case. It managed to get by on verve and some genuinely great moments, but if she doesn't tighten down on those loose ends, I'll probably get frustrated with the books, however many books there turn out to be.
And yay for another great Amazing Race last night - I'm looking forward to TARCon. Hopefully I'll be going with a friend or two, to make it all the more enjoyable.
