A week to work
Jul. 25th, 2004 07:46 pmI have taken the step. That is, in less dramatic terms, I've officially announced that I'm taking a week off from work, that week to be spent actually researching and writing my thesis, or as much of it that coalesces. My already-written handful of pages (four, to be exact) must be put in the hothouse and forced to bloom. I had counted on being able to borrow my sister's laptop, but it may not happen because she only has Microsoft Works and not Word loaded onto it; apparently the conversion between the two is a pain in the rump. But we shall see. I've been very dilligent about planning to write, but the actual writing has come a lot harder, especially since I am far away from my library and the community of like-minded grad students that used to be my main support. We're all scattered up and down the eastern seaboard now, and although I know they support me in spirit, it's much different than it is when we're all sitting in a crowded and windowless student office, laughing and sharing books and talking about how bloody difficult this all is.
