The Bourne Supremacy
Aug. 1st, 2004 06:34 pmSaw this last night, and am now busily making geeky little icons because I'm all fangirly about the Bourne movies. I didn't see the first one in the theater somehow - it completely slipped under my radar. I caught it as a rental and was immediately hooked, and it joined my small and exclusive club of DVD's I Will Own. Therfore, I've been geeked about the sequel for a while, and thankfully, it didn't disappoint.
I love action movies that are *smart*, and the Bourne movies definitely fit the bill. My stomach was grateful that the shaky camera wasn't quite as bad as advertised, although I think it was overused and very ineffective for the shots that weren't action-oriented, because there's no need for the image to be gently trembling when we're simply watching Jason leaf through a notebook, for example. And the Munich house fight was exciting, but being able to see it clearly makes it more exciting, as the Paris apartment fight in the first movie proved. When a man is beating up another man with a rolled-up magazine, I want to see every excruciating detail. On the other hand, it really worked out for the car chase in Moscow, so it does have its place.
( More spoilery movie observations )
