sienamysticWill probably just get the subsequent Parasol Protectorate books from the library, based on your advice. Probably not worth buying, because I won't end up rereading them. The first one was fun, though...maybe I'll mail it to my sister.
In other news, the Mystic Media Blitz continues. We went to see On Stranger Tides today, mostly because we were at loose ends and I did intend to see the movie as some sort of vague cheerleading for Tim Powers. Plus, I really like Barbossa and also Ian McShane (as long as the movie he's in is not attempting to botch a beloved childhood book). It was a pretty flimsy movie, but very pretty and not boring, and did indeed deliver all sorts of lovely Barbossa and Blackbeard-ness. And Johnny Depp seems like he's having all sorts of fun, so there's that.
That makes three movies seen in the theater recently. This never happens.
