Not much interest in a Kage Baker ficathon, then? Actually, I know there's some interest out there, but I'm not sufficiently hooked into fandom to really gauge interest, I think. Anyway, I'll file it under "maybe someday" and leave it at that, and perhaps see if I can get any story ideas of my own. I'm into a reread of the later books in the Company series, and remembering that I had objections to how Mendoza got portrayed, and with some of the plotting. And mysteriously, I don't have a copy of the very last book, so I'll have to go acquire it. I know I had it at some point, and I can't imagine where it's gotten off to.

Here, have a fashion photo of slinky 1930s types. Dian and her smug-druggler, perhaps?

Can I ask a slightly off-topic question? Can you recommend any *fun* American novels from the 30s? I've been trying to think of some (research for a new project), and while I LOVE 30s screwball movies, all the American novels I'm thinking of from the time period are MASSIVELY depressing (Grapes of Wrath, etc). So it occurred to me to ask you...

No worries if you can't think of any either, I just thought I'd give it a try. Thanks!

Amazingly enough, I've never read any Kage Baker. Got a suggestion where I ought to start?

I think it's really tragic that people don't just lounge around in evening clothes anymore.
