Or terrified. In the wake of the Lord of the Rings movies, I figured other fantasy books might get brought onto the big screen. I also had heard hints at Guy Gavriel Kay's fansite, Bright Weavings that a movie was possibly being discussed.

It's official now: Lions of Al Rassan is scheduled to be made.

There is no Kay book that I dislike, while there are several I cherish. I don't reread Lions as much as the others, but that may be because of the pain factor - I will note that I reread Tigana even less, because the Brandin-Dianora plotline hurts so much. (There must be other reasons, because I reread the Fiovonar Tapestry, Song for Arbonne, and the Sarantine Mosaic duology frequently - I think I'm so attatched to certain characters in these books that I will reread them through the pain. I haven't figured it all out yet.)

There's not going to be able to get most of the subtlety of Kay's work on the screen, I know that much. But I hope that some of the love and devotion to the books that motivated the Lord of the Rings movies will also be the case behind this movie, because I will be very upset if they get it wrong in certain ways.

I adored the Fionavar Tapestry. That bit at the end, with Arthur and Guinivere and Lancelot? Utterly killed me (in a good way). I need to pick up some more of his stuff.
