We've spent Christmas Day as we planned it - doing nothing that wasn't necessary, swanning around in pyjamas and thermal underwear and eating Hamburger Helper. I did venture outside to tend to the two felines I'm catsitting for, and discovered that it was practically balmy out - 37 degrees, and some of the ice floes were beginning to break up.
There is a bit of mild melancholy floating around the house - no big dinners, no family get-to-gethers, lots of tv and internet and napping. But honestly, having the ability to just hibernate is appreciated at the moment. It's probably not the way we want to have Christmas every year, but it'll do nicely for this one.
I've been reading tons of Yuletide stories, many of them in fandoms I'd never thought to read, and will try and put together a little recs list sometime soon. I never though I'd have a genuinely touching Aladdin (as in Disney) story to rec amongst the stories from Sayers and Guy Gavriel Kay and Bourne and Bond, but that's the cool thing about Yuletide. And my story has garnered a few nice comments, so that's always gratifying. There's one in the same fandom and with the same characters that blows mine out of the water, but that's ok too - I'm just happy to have gotten my story written and out there.
Hope everybody had the day they desired most.
