Depressed fish
Aug. 26th, 2005 10:41 amI went to my former place of employment, the 'Mart, to pick up some cat litter and other sundries, and ended up chatting with one of my former co-workers about fish depression. Ahab the betta fish has not been quite right ever since his near-death experience, and has been listlessly sulking in the corner of his home until I started to worry about him. Co-worker suggested that my decorating scheme (black gravel, tasteful "ruined Roman column" motif) was simply too mopey and Goth for a type of fish that prefers the glittery world of Ru Paul, disco music, and pink feather boas. So I swapped out his black gravel for the confetti kind (confetti being the code word for Day-Glo pink, yellow, and green), gave him a fake plant in pink and pearlescent white, and exchanged his tasteful Roman column for a sea-urchin thing in yellow with green tips to its tentacles.
So far, Ahab has not displayed all that much appreciation for his new habitat, but he did eat heartily this morning, and may just be taking a little longer than expected to exchange his emo woe for his new 24-hour-party-fish digs.
Bemo picked up my knitting needles yesterday and can now cast on quite well, but hasn't yet mastered the little twist that brings the yarn through on the knit stitch. He cusses more than I do when I knit, too.
Watched DVD number one of the Muppet Show's first season. Joy! Although some of the voices are disconcerting - Miss Piggy, Fozzie, and a few other characters had their original voices, which would eventually be tweaked a great deal into the voices we all are familliar with. I'm glad they changed them, as some of the old voices were a little on the annoying side.
