[livejournal.com profile] scott_lynch's breakdown of the three Ocean's 11 movies

Our workplace switched health insurance from Kaiser to Blue Cross, which so far hasn't been a big problem. But my boss just went to try and get her medical records sent over...and discovered that they charge money for this, because they send all the medical records to some outside company that stores the information. Thirteen dollars and some change for the first two pages, and twenty-five cents for every page thereafter. My boss has been with Kaiser for 15 years, which means a piddly two pages isn't going to come close to holding her entire history, plus she has a husband and kid who will need their records sent to their new doctor as well. Bemo and I haven't had any major medical issues in the past few years, so we may or may not have our records sent over, but I have to say that I'm not pleased with this situation at all - the idea that I have to pay to get my own medical information feels very wrong. I'm trying not to gnash my teeth, because I'm pretty sure there's nothing I can do about it, but I still feel like I've been obscurely wronged.

If you do decide to get the records, you may want to have them sent directly to you rather than the new insurance. Then you'd have them from this point on back, for any future doctors that may need them.
