A very bipolar weekend

Saturday was a lot of fun...Sunday, less so.
Saturday, the Bemo and I went to the movie on Venice and its two opposing identities: as a "museum" and as a city where real people live and work and buy bread and need childcare. Actually, I will probably do up an entry just on this topic, because I find it very interesting, especially in the light of how to be a responsible tourist. After the movie, we wandered through the National Gallery and visited some old friends of mine. Bemo is also a fan of Calder, so we visited his alcove in the East Building, where many Calder works are displayed quite fetchingly.
Sunday...ah, Sunday. It was a day of automotive disappointments that ended with the Bemo and I feeling disgusted with everything and cranky. We're trying to make it better with cookies bought at the Pepperidge Farm outlet store, but both of us are still on the surly side (not at each other, just at life.)
I think I've finally made the decision to shut down my Diaryland journal as an active writing space. I think I'll maintain it as a sort of blogroll for myself, but I realized that when I was balking at paying twelve bucks to get my Gold account back, it was probably time. And yet, I love the page design (which you can't see because the images are down until I get Gold status again) and it's been my primary journal for over three years, so some part of me wants to keep it around. In one sense, it's only a website, but in another sense, it's a small part of my personality, a place I can claim as my own.
