I'll give you the same opinion I gave Elise (who has not gotten one yet, as far as I know). I have one and I never use any of the cool functions, because unless you have access to wireless wherever you go, you can't email or web browse or use many of the apps. And if you're at home, you could use your PC much more easily. Now that I have a smart phone, literally all I use the Touch for is music. If you got the iPhone, then you'd have the data plan so you could do everything. Otherwise, I'm pretty sure you just have an expensive MP3 player. Unless the new generation is somehow awesomer--I believe it has a camera. But you already have a digital camera. My vote would be for the iPhone, if that's an option. ~Kate-h
I've got one and use the cool functions occasionally. I was mostly intrigued by the touchscreen technology and wanted to see if I could get used to it. It's definitely a big purchase and I dithered over it for a while for that reason. I will say, I like having the games on it when my bus gets stuck in traffic, and I definitely prefer to have my music/games separate from my phone, just so I don't run down the charge on the phone playing Fruit Ninja on the bus!
I like mine, because it's handy to browse mail when I'm on the move and within range of a wifi connection. I occasionally play the games, and I over-use the apps, especially the language ones. Also, Fruit Ninja is awesome--very relaxing ;)
I love mine - I use it a lot for the internet, when my son or my husband are using our computer and it's also great for watching movies/tv shows on the go. The screen resolution is lovely. If you do buy it, I would recommend a good set of headphones as a present ot yourself too, though, because the Apple ones are not that great.
I have one. I wanted some of the functions of the iPhone without the pricy plan. It comes in handy for short-use of email/web use. (We used it to confirm airline reservations when on a trip.) We don't have WiFi at home, but libraries and many coffee shops and even some grocery stores have it free.
I use it as a PDA, for my calendar and contact lists.
It was my entry ereader. I found I liked reading on it so much that I bought a full-size ereader.
I have some apps that I like - I have some religious stuff on there that I wouldn't have access to otherwise.
I have games on it.
I have podcasts on it, and I even have some music on it.
