Suburb of Heaven

Well, I suppose that's partly it. I do find some of the male characters interesting and layered, although where things come to a screeching halt is "really not that bad," and we can argue back and forth on "sympathetic" all day, because I have a sort of sympathy, but it's kind of the "wow, look what humans can sink to, and I find it believable" sort of way. I'm taking a sort of Cyteen interest in the whole thing, where people do horrible things but that doesn't necessarily make the book or show unwatchable. Now, Cyteen is a better product - more consistent, better written overall, and also probably more horrifying in some ways, but Dollhouse interests me in some of the same ways.
