Fanmixes

So when you're making a fanmix of some sort, do you use music that you could envision the characters listening to, or simply songs that seem to fit them or the situation you're mixing? Because I have multiple John Hiatt songs that fit Clint and/or Clint and Natasha's relationship, but I don't know if I can picture either of them listening to that particular artist. Especially Fraction!Clint, who seems so rooted in NYC despite them not jettisoning his Midwest background. Movieverse!Clint I can see more easily.
