Holiday wonderfulness

Getting into work today was a bit touchy - a thin layer of snow over some ice, and things were rather slick, although not dismally so. I crunched my way up the sidewalk into our building, thinking of all the things I have to do today to get ready to leave bright and early tomorrow, got settled at my desk, and opened up my email...

to discover a mystery flister has decided to be Santa, and has sent me and Bemo Amazon gift certificates to spend on something frivolous and happy-making.

I am having to hide a teary, idiotic grin from my officemate, not to mention the snuffling sound I'm making.

Thank you, thank you, a thousand times, thank you, mystery friend, for being so generous and making my day so happy.

Anxious about flying tomorrow - not the flying itself, but all the TSA stories have me nervous, especially since we're going to travel with Bemo's new SAD light. It comes in a little carry box, and Continental tells me that it doesn't count against our carry-on total, and the TSA are welcome to x-ray it up down and sideways and swab it (all they'll get off it is some kitty-cat spit because one of our dumb cats has been licking it). And the airport we fly out of is smaller and not very stress-filled, although coming back we do fly out of National, which...eep. So I am anticipating all sorts of horrors, and trying not to do that.

I am trying to chill out.

Also, it's hard to quibble when somebody else is paying for your tickets in a most generous way, but I do wish our flights weren't scheduled to leave so early. We fly out at 6:45 am and on the way home we fly out at 6:00 am, so waaah. It's probably why they can be gotten so cheaply, but it's a trifle hard on us since it takes an hour to get to the airport.

Anyway. Hurrah for a nice vacation, and a kindly co-worker to house-sit and mind the kitties, and not having to brain very hard for a few weeks. I hope it all goes well, and I hope everyone's holiday travel plans, if they exist, result in smooth trips and safe traveling.
