sienamystic: (be more awesome)
Man, a week off of cardio and boy, does it show. Last night's gym session was kind of pitiful. Yoga, while nice and introducing me to muscle groups I had no idea existed, does diddly-poop when it comes to how soon I get winded on the elliptical. Bearing down on twenty pounds lost, which is still a figure that boggles me when I look at it. For somebody who has never considered herself able to lose weight, the fact that I'm following most of the rules most of the time - and that it's actually working - is still totally boggleworthy.

In other news, which has kind of been keeping me up at night, I'm apparently attempting to kill myself via overplanning. My sister is flying into St. Louis in mid-March to see my grandmother, and Bemo and I will drive out and meet up with her. We may even drive down to St. Genevieve, my father's hometown (and the means by which I got my name) to look around, although my well-meaning but kinda-prone-to-doom-saying uncle says it's changed for the worse, by which he seems to mean more touristy and Ye Olde. On the other hand, it wasn't a place where either of us lived for very long, and some of what we remember was indeed Ye Olde, but not in a really bad way. We'll do it anyway, and see what we see.

Later in March, however, I have a conference in Miami to attend. The uni will cover my plane ticket, but I'll have to put the hotel on my credit card and get reimbursed, and sweet lord a'mercy, hotel rooms in Miami are spendy. I just don't have the spare room on my card to charge a three-hundred-plus dollar room for four nights, so I'm hoping I can find something a little more reasonable but that won't get me paying cab fare to and from the convention center that will just rack up more expenditures. It's possible that I'll turn this over into a webinar, but that sort of cuts down on the networking/asking random questions stuff that can be so useful.

Aaaaaand I need to get to DC in April for Little Hussy's wedding and family visits. Phew phew.

All of this with Bemo currently unemployed (temp job ended, and not much on the horizon) and in the full-blown depths of winter-worsened depression (we haven't, uh, seen much of the sun in recent months), plus the giant payments we're making to knock down some student loan debt.

I'm...not sure how this is all going to work.
