All this white stuff falling from heaven
Dec. 8th, 2009 09:34 pmIt was snowing, it is snowing, it will be snowing. The university let people out at noon today, and canceled things tomorrow, which is pretty unusual, especially since we're in dead week and lots of people have last minute things to do. However, the snow is just ridiculous - we'll probably end up with about ten inches or so - and the wind will be whipping around tomorrow making visibility very limited. Just because they drive in the snow here in Nebraska does not, I have discovered, make people much better drivers, which was truly a surprise. People don't seem to respect the snow, so they drive too fast for conditions and end up, like the poor idiot we saw driving home, high-centered on the median strip. Plus, driving in to work, we had not one but two pedestrians bolt out in front of us, which is kinda unsafe considering we might not be able to stop our damn car where we mean to. One of the people who did it had a hood up and her hand up to shield her face from blowing snow, and didn't even seem to acknowledge the fact that there was a car moving towards her that might not be able to stop in sufficient time to avoid mowing her down.
On the whole, much nicer to stay inside. I watched Julie and Julia finally, thanks to Netflix, and had tears in my eyes for much of it, because I was so happy. Meryl Streep and Stanley Tucci were so lovely together, and now I have to re-rent Big Night for more Tucci.
Tomorrow, we have Appaloosa to watch. Looking forward to it.
