I've been consuming a lot of media - the John Adams miniseries, my first episode of Leverage, a small stack of gothics and new-to-me Georgette Heyers, and I'm about to start watching Wonderfalls. But for some reason, I haven't had the wherewithall to write a little about them, although I want to. Plus, I still haven't done the art history post yet, which I want to do as well. Hrumph. Hopefully I will Get My Act Together, as my mom always advised me to do.
My sister took off for Ireland earlier this evening, and I hope she has a wonderful trip. Traveling alone overseas is, I think, a very valuable experience in many ways, and I hope she has a great time.
Last night, I stayed late at work and put out a bunch of free books and auction catalogues for anyone interested to take and so save me from putting them in the recycle bin. Actually, there are a couple of options for places for them to go after the weekend - a few bookdrives, a local literacy project, and a womens prison have been suggested, so hopefully I'll be able to save most of them from being pulped. Although to be honest, some of them don't deserve to be saved - it boggles me how much can gets spent on resources that are more or less useless. Not just useless *now*, in the internet age, but which don't seem likely to have been useful when they were printed up. Anyway, it turned into one of those cool things where several other people pitched in and helped out and it all got done really quickly, and then I was taken out for flaming coffee drinks at a local Greek restaurant and much hilarity ensued. The drinks are made with either Kaluha and brandy, Kaluha and tequila, or Kaluha and Jamesons, and they were all pretty darn tasty. No, I didn't have three of them, we shared *g*
(Sometimes, I really love living here in the midwest. The flaming coffee drinks, which really are mostly-floor-show as well as being a tasty beverage, cost seven bucks apiece. Seven bucks. Back in DC, that would, perhaps, get you a Michelob Light. And it wouldn't be on fire when you got it.
