three day weekend
Mar. 24th, 2006 07:19 pmThe pres is coming to our building on Monday to be present at a naturalization ceremony, and because of all the security hassles that it entails, the powers that be decided to just give us the day off, so this is going to be a three day weekend for me. I'm going to spend the bonus day back at the library, having another run at writing an ending to this goddamn paper. Tomorrow, back to the Dada exhibit, and then I'll hookup with
eccentricartist for lunch at Kam Fongs and then a trip to the Freer and Sackler galleries. Fun for all concerned.
My Netflixed copy of South Pacific arrived today, which means that I'll be poking Cher (*pokepoke*) to come watch it. Cher was costume crew chief for our high school production of it, and I auditioned for Bloody Mary. I didn't make it and was cast simply as Random Island Woman, but was forced by my mom to drop out because she was "about to have a very serious operation!" that she has not, as of today, had yet. Great bitterness on my part resulted when the girl cast as Bloody Mary sang flat over the entire three-night run. Cher has never seen the very good movie of South Pacific (although I know, I know - what's with all the colored filters? It's still a good movie.) that I imprinted on at a very young age. It'll be nice to see it again, especially with my constant Rossano Brazzi crush (as my icon may demonstrate).
