So I just got a formal letter today, telling me that the thing which I do not speak directly of did, indeed, go to another candidate. I'm sure said candidate will enjoy their whopping great salary and fun new location...at least until I find them and break the hand they condition-report with.
Ahem.
I did learn, thanks to the letter, a fun new fact that at least has pulled me out of my vague, "you just didn't want it enough and somehow your lack of will lost you the position" funk that I've been in and out of recently. I was one of 500 applicants. And out of all those applicants, I got an interview and, post-interview, a request for references. This makes me feel much better about the fact that some bloody PhD or hoary old vet with 50 years of experience at the Met swooped in and nabbed my gig.
And if I shouldn't be feeling this good about how this all played out, please for the Lord's sweet sake, don't tell me.
