sienamystic: (Francis of Assisi)
Today should have been an absolutely craptastic day - combine feuding siblings, a parent overly anxious that everybody kiss and make nice, and a six hour drive, and I figured on things being at the very least uncomfortable, and at the worst, a renewal of hostilities. But whether everybody had been coaxed (or threatened) into acting their best, there were no fights, no squibbles, and while there was some frost in the air at times, there were no snits thrown. I can mark the day as a very good one, especially since the Bemo's father's house is in a particularly pretty area of Hampton, Va and it was a lovely day to enjoy the wind off the bay. Oh, and since Bemo's dad and stepmom are in the process of selling their house to move, they offloaded tons of old photographs, plus a quilt that I have to get dated (it's not very old - my untrained eye guesses it at anywhere from the 1970s to the 1940s) and which is a very pretty mariner's compass design in blue, red, yellow, and white.

The total six hours of driving did take its toll, but it's not a huge deal since I took tomorrow off. Gracie-cat has to go to the vet, and then I think I'll head over to the National Gallery library and work for a bit.

In not-so-great news, we returned to find that a quilt that I had left on the sofa had been peed on by one of our three furballs. This is *not* usual, and if one of them is developing a new nasty habit, I will be majorly cheesed. Grrrrrrr.
