Jul. 9th, 2005 11:24 amI have an unreasonable fondness for hitmen. No, not in real life - I'm talking about the movie and book variety, all competent and gun and knife toting and badass. There might be a link with my love for hitmen and my interest in vampires, but I'm not sure - only I did have a very memorable dream a few years ago that had me happily submissive to a vampire who looked like Christopher Plummer. (It was nice being taken care of by a superhuman protector, especially one who looked like Captain Von Trapp. What can I say?) Every once in a while, I wonder what all this indicates about my psychology, but most of the time I can just shove all that into a corner and *squee!* happily to myself.
Some hitmen I have loved:
Leon (The Professional)
Vincent (Collateral)
Jason Bourne (duh)
Kincaid (Jim Butcher's Harry Dresden books)
Edward (Laurell K. Hamilton's Anita Blake books)
Martin Q. Blank (Grosse Point Blank)
Mr. John Smith (Duh again)
Mrs. Jane Smith
Slightly lower on my list are more "realistic" types, like Vincent Vega and Jules Winfield. On the other hand, Tony Soprano (mob boss and occasional hitman) is high on my list.
No, I'm not really sure what the point of this post is either. It's been a busy week, it's a Saturday but is a workday for me, and I'm by turns both bored and busy.
