It's not often that I meet a dog breed that I haven't come across before, let alone one I can't identify, but today I met my first Kangal Dog an Afgan flock guardian distantly related to a dog I once had, a Great Pyrenees. He was very polite, even though he really wanted a biscuit and could have helped himself to one without any trouble at all, as he could see right over the countertop.
Earlier in the day, I wrangled a herd of Brownies, and taught them to make clothespin dolls. They ranged from the uber-competent (assisting those in need of it) to those who just couldn't fathom my instruction to "make a tube out of the fabric, pretty side in, and glue it together," even though I demonstrated it for them twelve billion times. If anybody has a yen to make some clothespin dolls of their own, leave a comment and I'll put up directions, as it's dead easy and they make cute Christmas ornaments and suchlike.
