I have tried four - count 'em, four - times to upload my Anita Blake fic, and four times, the computer has angrily shut me down for daring to attempt it. So I think it'll have to wait until I'm away from my crappy dialup connection and with access to something more high-speed, because otherwise, my computer is going to be flying off the balcony. And the neighbors really wouldn't care for that.
Short pimp for the story: It's a gen, straightforward adventure, set before Richard went wildly-off character and out of his mind in the regular books, and refusing to acknowledge Narcissus in Chains or anything later than that. I was getting tired of a stream of endless vampires and were-things, each prettier and more generously hung than the last, and all just panting to boff Anita the instant they laid eyes on her. So I wanted to write a little something in the spirit of the earlier books. Jean-Claude and Richard make appearances, but not signifigant ones. It's mostly Anita, Edward (because he's Edward! I love Edward! He's my favorite homicidal psychopath!) and an original character that I hope isn't too obnoxious, although she does sing Bohmenian Rhapsody at one point. It's archived at a very nice fic site, but for whatever reason, the file got mangled when I sent it, and all the appostrophies are replaced with question marks, and that is really irritating. Plus, I made some edits to the text to improve flow - I can't resist tinkering. So, I promise (not that there's anybody out there panting expectantly) to post the sucker as soon as I can.
