How will you be able to cry once your eyes are pecked out?

A co-worker got up the idea to have a play-reading circle, and I was glad to be invited. I headed over to her apartment yesterday and we read The Birds by Aristophanes. I think it'll be a good chance to broaden my horizons - I have a hard time reading plays straight out, unless I've seen a performance previously, and reading them out loud in a group really helps me take in the whole thing. Plus, tons of fun. And snacks.

I'm currently reading the first volume of L.M. Montgomery's journals. I need to have a book post soon - between this and all the Dodie Smith I just finished up reading, I want to write out some of my thoughts. But I will say now that Montgomery's journals are absolutely charming and I'm enjoying them very much.

One warning, though I haven't read them myself: apparently LMM's journals get progressively darker and unhappier over the four volumes of them.
